Gardening Tips At Club Bazaar

Well, even in Bahrain they worry about the environment....

GARDENERS, pet lovers and others turned out for the Bahrain Garden Club's (BGC) first Horticultural Bazaar at its clubhouse, in Juffair, yesterday.

The event was held under the patronage of Capital Governor Shaikh Humood bin Abdulla Al Khalifa.

On sale were plants, flowers, garden equipment, accessories, pets, birds, gifts, refreshments and other items. Visitors were given gardening advice by agricultural specialists and other attractions included games for adults and children, henna and face painting.

"We had 38 participants, including productive families and various nurseries," BGC public relations officer Tahera Jaberi told the GDN.

"We mainly encouraged ladies who are having businesses in their homes for nurseries or handicrafts.

"The main purpose of the bazaar is to spread awareness about looking after the environment and familiarising people with horticulture.

"Shaikh Humood was so happy and said next year he would like the Capital Governorate to participate and he also wanted to take it to a bigger level. "He said he would also co-ordinate with us and was ready to support us in our activities."
